Session Insights Getting started

Getting started

Turn on Session Insights for yourself. It takes about five minutes, and nothing leaves your machine until you approve it.

  1. Install the CLI

    curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/seedlinglabs/forgebench-cli/main/install.sh | bash
  2. Run guided setup

    forgebench setup

Setup opens a keyboard-driven screen that walks you through five steps: URL, sources, preview, consent, and ready. Press Esc or q at any point to cancel. Nothing is uploaded if you do.

  3. Choose your ForgeBench URL

Enter the app URL for your environment. It defaults to https://app.forgebench.ai, and the CLI connects to its API for you. If you don't have a valid login for that URL yet, your browser opens so you can sign in (company SSO included). If you're already signed in, setup skips this.

  4. Pick your AI tools and history window

Setup lists every supported tool it finds on your machine: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Antigravity, GitHub Copilot, and OpenCode. Use Space to select one or more. Only the sources you select are read.

Then choose how much history to import for the preview and first upload: 3, 7 (default), 30, or 90 days.

  5. Review your private preview

Setup scans your selected sessions and builds the report locally. Press v to see the exact payload that would be sent. The report holds counts, timestamps, tool and model IDs, and safe Git names. Prompts and code are never collected.

  6. Approve sync and upload

Setup asks one question: enable automatic session-end sync and upload this report now? Answer y to turn both on, or n to keep everything local. Both are off until you say yes.

Automatic sync checks the last three days after each session ends. Antigravity has no session-end hook, so it only uploads when you run forgebench run --push or a scheduled job from forgebench schedule. To choose sync and upload separately, run forgebench setup --advanced.

Once you see You're ready, you're done. Run forgebench doctor anytime to check your installation.

Other ways to run setup

SituationCommand
Check which tools are selected and whether sync is onforgebench setup --status
Turn automatic sync offforgebench setup --uninstall
Sign in over SSH, without a browserforgebench login --key
Forget the saved keyforgebench logout
Script setup without the guided screenforgebench setup --tool claude_code --sync-now --install-hooks

If your terminal is smaller than 64 × 20 or can't draw the guided screen, setup falls back to plain prompts that ask the same questions in the same order. For every command and flag, see the CLI reference.

Install the CLI, then run forgebench setup: choose the URL, sign in, pick tools, preview locally, and approve upload
